Let's get it snapping… Red Snapper.🐟🔴

Food /fuːd/ noun
1. any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink or that plants absorb in order to maintain life and growth.

Food plays such an important role in our lives, logically otherwise we cease to exist. To me food feeds not only the soul, it is love. Good food and memories are the first things that come to mind when I think food. Memories in the kitchen, learning from my mother – often paired with a slap or two for tasting too much, aunt’s, friends, chefs over the years.

Humbled to start this new decade by being part of the Victuals team and adding my personal food experiences to the mix.

Curaçao

This past summer I visited Curaçao (located in the southern Caribbean sea), for those of you that don’t know, do your research. It is a beautiful island with great vibes, blue beaches, and enough vitamin D to get you glowing. Each year they host the Curaçao Sea Jazz Festival with various artists performing from all over the world. My dear friends Jill and Dwight gave me this birthday surprise. It turned out to be a birthday day that I would never forget, correction some parts might take a bit of effort to remember, lol.

It was certainly one that went down in the books as one close to my heart.

Prior to our evening out we ended up riding to the area Jan Thiel and decided on this local bistro called Briso do Mar – Pop’s Place. It is located right along the shore of Caracasbaai. Where locals coming there to swim, enjoy the scenery, including a beautiful sunset which only adds to the charm of their location.

Getting straight down to what I ate- It was an easy choice for me, one look at the menu and they had me at the Red Snapper, 45 minutes more than worth the wait. Fresher than fresh, crisper than crisp they served me this baby. Served together with garden salad, rice and beans, and French fries.

They also serve a wicked Conch (Karko as pronounced by the locals in their native tongue, Papiamentu), along with Funchi fries (corn meal).

If ever you find yourself visiting Curaçao, I highly recommend visiting them, I left the island, one happy foodie.

Love the life you live. Live the life you love.
