Typical Authenic Surinamese Flavors

A little bird, well no, a very good family friend told us that a wonderful couple are the proud owners of this cute restaurant! The names of the owners are Joel and Xiomara Wolff-Hossenbux.

We’ve been told that the concept is Surinamese cuisine, but with an upgrade. “Fine dining kinda food, with the typical authentic Surinamese flavors”, were her exact words. So here we are with a little info on them.

Orders up!

Spice ‘n Lime opened their doors, even though the officials in Suriname have tightened the nightly curfew and some restrictions on business operations in place to curb the spread of COVID-19. Restaurants and other commercial food preparation and delivery venues are open for the public with restrictions:

  • Take out or delivery; from Monday to Friday, pick-up is possible until 10 p.m. and delivery until midnight. Saturday and Sunday pick-up is possible until 20:00 and delivery until midnight
  • Indoor Dining; from Monday to Friday possible until 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday possible until 8:00 pm. This is only allowed under strict observance of the applicable protocols.

We are planning to visit them soon, even if we will only have to pick up our order. The food looks delicious!

Chef Giovanny

Now, we have to write a remark on this fun-loving Chef. Chef Giovanny Ho-A-Tham is one chef to admire and follow. Coming from the Suriname Hospitality and Tourism Training Centre in 2015 to working at Torarica Hotel in 2017 and Het Bastion in 2018 (in Suriname), to becoming the Chef of the Year in 2018, representing Suriname at the Taste of the Caribbean 2019 with the rest of the team members! Also moving to Brievengat, Curacao in 2019 working for Mood Beach Curaçao!

Now he works for this restaurant. We have always been really proud of this talented young man and we couldn’t be prouder to have him back with us here in Suriname.

In the words of a fellow Chef, Jethro Wirht: “Fierce! Giovanny Hoatam, the Chef behind it. A true Culinarian…#bezig

As soon as we get the chance to go visit Spice ‘n Lime, we will surely come back and write a review!

Go ahead and visit them and let us know what you think!
