A homemade family dinner that’s what I made last year… It was Christmas and we decided to celebrate it on Christmas Eve with my husband’s family; his brothers and cousin.

I really wanted something different. I wanted to make sure that each and everyone had at least something that they would like. So I search for several recipes and hoped that they would love it! Or at least enjoy.

Not the usual Surinamese traditional Christmas dinner with pom, pastei, huzarensalade, macaroni salad etc…

The menu

The menu had to have a little variety. I proudly present the menu:

  • Mussels in white wine sauce
  • Squid in Vodka Soy Sauce
  • Lamb roulade filled, with Red Wine sauce
  • Chicken roulade
  • Spare Ribs in Hoisin Sweet and Sour Sauce
  • Rösti
  • Shrimp
  • Mesclun Green salade with cashew nuts

My plate!

I’m have to say I was beat, but happy with the outcome. Preparations started at 3pm. Each of them carefully prepared, seasoned and ready to be cooked!

The day after

Our son eating leftovers on Christmas morning 🫣
And my husband joining in, having some mussels and Hennessy

I’m proud to say that it was an evening well spent, loved and fun.

Homemade or home cooked meals tend to be so much more fun and delicious. Especially when you take the time to do so!

I know we are 5 months in the “new” year, but I’m truly interested what you cooked or just ate for Christmas last year. Do share in a comment below, we will respond to your message. 😉🙏
